Drew McIntyre won’t be wrestling for the tag team titles after all

Just days ago, WWE announced that Drew McIntyre and Sheamus would team up to challenge for the tag team championship on Friday Night SmackDown this week. The plan was for the two of them to take on the winner of Matt Riddle & Elias vs. The Usos, which takes place on Monday Night Raw this week.

That won’t be happening now.

From McIntyre himself:

WWE retweeted that but didn’t provide any context for it. It’s unclear exactly what “medically disqualified” means beyond the obvious, that he won’t be wrestling over some sort of medical issue.

Here’s what McIntyre’s tag partner had to say:

According to PW Insider, this is a legitimate issue and is not a part of any angle or storyline but they don’t have any details on what exactly is going on either. For what it’s worth, McIntyre missed the weekend house show run.

Whatever it is, let’s hope he gets well soon.
