The Nightly: June 12th, 2023

Hello Nightly!!!

Tonight we take a look at The Princess and the Frog. After a several year hiatus, this was Disney’s first hand drawn animated film since Home On The Range. And while this movie isn’t perfect, I think it’s safe to say that this is easily better than Home On The Range. With this movie, it felt like they were making a conscious effort to make The Princess and the Frog like some of the old school films and even some of the Disney Renaissance era films. And for the most part, it works. The animation is bright and vibrant, the songs are pretty good, good characters, a solid story, it really does work. I think the script probably could have been a bit better and a bit tighter, but really other than that, I have little to complain about with this movie. The fact that it is hand drawn only helps it, I think that style of animation is so much better than CGI animation.

On to the Nightly.
